Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Plan for plant operation
   • Safety issues related to controlling electrical energy production are identified, in accordance with Work, Health and Safety (WHS)/Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations, legislative requirements, industry standards and workplace procedures
2. Work, electrical energy production plant and resourcing are identified, in accordance with workplace procedures, from relevant information and documentation
3. Preoperational check on electrical energy production plant is carried out, in accordance with workplace procedures and site requirements
4. Operate generator and excitation system
   • Generator and excitation system is operated, in accordance with workplace procedures and manufacturers' operating recommendations
5. Synchronising requirements are assessed, evaluated and achieved, in accordance with workplace procedures, to ensure generator and excitation system stability
6. Generator and excitation system is monitored and observed, in accordance with workplace procedures, to detect deviations from normal operating conditions
7. Corrective actions are taken to rectify generator and excitation system abnormalities, in accordance with workplace procedures and manufacturers' recommendations
8. Control generation of electrical energy
   • Generator output is adjusted to meet demand, in accordance with workplace procedures
9. Reactive power generation and voltage regulation requirements are assessed, in accordance with workplace procedures, and the generator and excitation system is controlled to achieve desired output
10. Generator stabilities and operating limits are assessed and the generator and excitation system is controlled to maintain those limits, in accordance with workplace procedures and manufacturers' recommendations
11. Generator cooling systems and limits are monitored and assessed and the generator and excitation system is controlled to maintain those limits, in accordance with workplace procedures and manufacturers' recommendations
12. Complete documentation
    • Power generating plant problems, movements and status is reported, in accordance with workplace procedures
13. Documentation is updated, in accordance with workplace procedures
